Computer/IT Classes
$5 per 2 hr class or

A great place to start for computer novices or those looking to refresh their skills or learn new concepts! New to computers, iPads or laptops? Having trouble with your mobile phone, connectivity to iPads and laptops? Our experienced tutors can address all IT applications and essential elements of the internet and social media. Our experienced volunteer tutors take you through all Microsoft Office applications, whether it be Word, Excel, Powerpoint or Apple applications. ​

French Classes

Fridays 9 - 10.30am
 or 10.30 - 12noon 
Perfect for those who love all things French. Culture, sites to see, navigating menus, reading directions and signs. Basic to beginner and beginner to intermediate language classes. All class material and study notes are provided. Morning tea tasting the delights of various French cuisine.

Welsh Advanced Classes
$120 annual fee
Mondays 1 - 3pm

Tafod y Cymry’ (The Tongue of the Welsh) holds this class for experienced Welsh learners and native speakers wishing to reconnect with their mother tongue. Together the group chat, read and translate poetry, prose and songs (which they then enjoy singing!) Some grammar is covered and a little bit of history researched.

Looking to improve your English language skills? Join our small group of students in a relaxed atmosphere. The classes are led by experienced and qualified ESL tutors and teachers, providing a structured program in a friendly, relaxed space for learning, conversation and friendship.

Working with experienced ESL tutors. Students can converse on a range of topics as well as reading the newspaper together or working on flashcards. Students can bring in their own work to ask for assistance or come with lots of questions to help you feel more comfortable.

Barre & Boxing

A classic barre workout with a modern twist, this program takes traditional ballet moves and throws in Pilates and Boxing. This game changing program incorporates slow leg workouts that improve balance and stability, create lean muscles, and strengthen joints, with the intense arm work that builds strong arms and shoulders, increases power, and gets your heart pumping. Boxing workouts are low impact, help create better hand eye coordination, decrease stress levels, improve confidence and mostly are heaps of fun! Try something different, all fitness levels are welcome and encouraged.

Chair Yoga​

Chair yoga allows yoga to be accessible to those with limited mobility, difficulties with balance, joint pain, joint replacements, osteoporosis, arthritis and can help to lessen the impact of chronic illnesses and pain.

Strength and tone exercise Classes for all ages! A low to medium impact class including light hand weights, designed to strengthen, tone and stretch your entire body. Improve your fitness, enjoy easy to follow moves to a motivating music mix.

Hatha Yoga Classes

tuesdays 7 - 8pm
Hatha flow class incorporating the traditional aspects of Hatha Yoga – asanas (postures), breath, mindfulness and listening to the body while flowing and moving with the breath to strengthen the body, calm the mind and open the heart.

This Yoga class is appropriate for all ages, accommodating for beginners through to more experienced yogis.

Mini Wellbeing Mind Body & Soul Retreat
​$40 per CLASS
Fridays 2-4pm (once a term)
Learn how to nurture yourself through self-care practices in Mindful Movement, Breathing Meditation, and Self Massage. Restore your body with gentle restorative Yoga (chair or floor). Treat your body to Sound Healing (Yoga Nidra) which helps in lowering blood pressure, improving circulation, reducing respiratory rates and promoting healing and well-being.

Art Therapy & Mindfulness​

Colouring In, Water Colour, Charcoal – Painting and positive mindfulness. This program/class is not only fun, but research tells us that Art Therapy is a proven relaxation exercise to increase self-awareness, providing techniques to assist in reducing stress and anxiety. Provides an opportunity for people of all ages to slow down their day and showcase a hidden talent! Meet other participants who are members of the House.

Would you like a safe, nurturing, friendly space to meet likeminded people? Somewhere you could stimulate your mind while chatting and laughing over a card game (Canasta & Rummy), board game, chess or anything else you may fancy? All the while enjoying a lovely afternoon tea in comfortable space. Each week we have a something special on offer – Crafty Club, Trivia, Card Making, Knit n Natter and Painting Faces. Ask us for our updated schedule. The Chatty Café will also be part of this social afternoon.

Join a social group to share healthy ageing eating choices, recipes and managing your weekly menu and shopping. Dietician tips to improve your whole health and wellbeing. Fun and enthusiastic cooking instructors will lead the group and they will utilize some fresh ingredients right from our very own Community Garden.

A Community Lunch that has been design to reach out to vulnerable, lonely and isolated people in our community, especially those who are experiencing various home/life struggles and financial hardship. The lunch will be prepared by experienced Chiefs along with a small cooking class. Come join us in bringing our community together. Supported by Glen Eira Council and St John’s Uniting Church.
